Recommended BMW Maintenance List

  • 2024 X3, X4 X5, X6 (except M versions*) X7 Maintenance Requirements Refer to Attachment 2 for the Condition Based Service intervals. * On the 2024 X3 M, X4 M, X5 M, X6 M, BMW XM. Standard operations performed at each scheduled service Maintenance work:
  • Verify the Check Control messages
  • Check the indicator and warning lights
  • Reset the CBS display
  • Inspect the tires incl. spare tire if equipped; adjust the tire pressures and reset the Tire Pressure Monitor
  • Check the parking brake functionality while the vehicle is being driven into the workshop
  • Check the sunroof guide rails for excessive contamination Engine Oil Maintenance work
  • Change the engine oil and oil filter. X3, X4, X5 s/xDrive40i, X6 xDrive40i: BMW recommends Original BMW Engine Oil SAE 0W-20, per the reference label in the engine comp. X7 xDrive40i with B58N engine: SAE 0W-12, per the reference label in the engine compartment. BMW recommends Original BMW Engine Oil SAE 0W-12, X5 M60i, X6 M60i, X7 M60i, ALPINA XB7: BMW recommends Original BMW Engine Oil SAE 0W30, per the reference label in the engine compartment. Maintenance services connected to a specific engine oil service* Maintenance work
  • At every 2nd Engine Oil Service – replace the ventilation microfilter.
  • X7 with option 4NN 5-zone climate control: Replace the rear cabin ventilation microfilter
  • At every 3rd Engine Oil Service
  • All: Replace the brake fluid.
  • At every 4th Engine Oil Service:
  • Intake air cleaner – replace the air filter element (reduce replacement interval in dusty operating conditions).
  • At every 6th Engine Oil Service:
  • Replace the spark plugs. *These additional connected services will not be shown in the vehicle’s CBS display. Maintenance services that display in CBS Front brakes Maintenance work:
  • Replace the brake pads and clean the brake pad contact points in the calipers.
  • Brake discs – check the surface and thickness, replace as necessary. Rear brakes Maintenance work:
  • Replace the brake pads and clean the brake pad contact points in the calipers.
  • Brake discs – check the surface and thickness, replace as necessary.
  • Parking brake – repair or replace the parking brake shoes/linings only if a reduction in the brake’s effectiveness is noted. When fitted, the parking brake shoes/linings are excluded from coverage under the BMW Maintenance Program. Vehicle check Maintenance work:
  • Check the operation of the horn, the headlight flasher and the hazard warning flashers.
  • Check the instrument and control lighting and the heater/air conditioning blower.
  • Check the lighting system – turn signals, backup, license plate, interior (incl. map, reading lights), glove compartment, and cargo compartment lights.
  • Safety belts – check the condition and function.
  • Check the windshield wiper and washer jet positions.
  • Tires – check the tread depth, wear pattern, outer condition, inflation pressure incl. the spare tire if equipped. If necessary, correct the pressure.
  • Reset the Tire Pressure Monitor.
  • Battery – check the state of charge (magic eye) and charge, if required.
  • Visually inspect all SRS airbag units for torn covers, obvious damage or attachment of stickers.
  • Rearview mirrors.
  • Coolant – check the fluid level and the concentration. Ensure that the coolant level is between the minimum (min.) and maximum (max.) indicators. Top up to the “max.” if needed. Do not exceed “max.” Avoid spillage under all circumstances. Caution: Allow engine to cool to avoid possible scalding from hot coolant.
  • Windshield washer and intensive cleaning systems – check the protection level, fluid level, and top off if necessary.
  • 12V Battery: Check the state of charge (magic eye) and charge if required.
  • Brake system connections and lines – check for leaks, damage and correct positioning.
  • Underbody, incl. all visible parts (i.e., transmission, rear axle, fuel lines, and exhaust system) – check for damage, leaks and corrosion.
  • Steering components – check for clearance, leaks, damage and wear.
  • G07: Check front suspension tie rod ball joints, and steering rack end boots
  • X5 PHEV: Check the terminals in the Flexible Fast Charger plug for breakage or being bent.
  • Check the electrical cable for signs of damage.
  • Final Inspection – road test with check of:
  • Steering
  • Shock absorbers (visual)
  • Transmission Brake fluid Maintenance work: Replace the brake fluid
