What Are Brake Rotors and Why Are They Important?

What Are Brake Rotors and Why Are They Important?

Every modern vehicle's braking systems involve many parts: brake pads, brake rotors, master cylinders, hydraulic hoses, and brake fluid. Most people talk about replacing their brake pads, but another part that often has to be replaced is the brake rotor.    In simplest terms, a brake rotor is a circular metallic disc that is attached to the wheel hub on the wheel. They are almost always seen on the front axle of modern vehicles, sometimes in the rear axle. During regular operation, the brake pads are pressed against the brake rotor by the calipers, using hydraulic pressure created by the master cylinder. Friction between the two parts generates thermal energy. It then gets absorbed and dissipated by the brake rotor. Without the rotor, your brakes would overheat and not function.   What Can Go Wrong With Brake Rotors? The most common reason for brake rotor repair is wear and tear. The brake rotor material gets worn away with repeated use and constant exposure to ... read more

Correct Your Wheel Alignment Problems

Now, if you want to ensure that the vehicle always outputs the most power and performs the best, the wheels need to be correctly aligned. Unfortunately, it is something many people neglect. What Is Proper Wheel Alignment? We often tell clients that they need to stay on top of the condition of their tires to ensure that they are driving a safe and comfortable vehicle. However, that’s just one piece of the puzzle. The other piece is wheel alignment which mainly refers to how the wheels are mounted and connected to the steering system. Correct alignment will mean that your wheels all point straight with the tires properly angled and centered within the wheel wells. Aligned wheels promote a safer and longer tire life along with a smooth ride. Wheels that aren’t balanced will mean that the vehicle does not handle properly or even operate accurately. The outcomes can be negative, as misalignment will lead to your car becoming dangerous and highly inefficient. That said, there ... read more

What Is The Drivetrain?

The drivetrain isn’t just a single part of the vehicle; in fact, it is comprised of a pretty long series of parts that work together, transferring power from the engine to the wheels. While some parts of the system, like the driveshaft and the differential, are durable, they can break down or start leaking if not properly maintained with regular lubrication. Often replacing these parts can be highly challenging, which is why it is worth maintaining them. Your vehicle’s owner manual should highlight precisely when to schedule maintenance for your vehicle. What’s Wrong With My Drivetrain? As mentioned earlier, the drivetrain is undoubtedly one of the most durable parts of the vehicle, which makes it unlikely to fail. However, ignoring issues early on can lead to permanent and costly damage later. Below we’ll discuss some of the most common symptoms of a fault with your drivetrain, and should merit an inspection immediately. Leaking fluid Vibration and strange ... read more

What Is A Clutch?

The clutch is a key part of your vehicle’s manual transmission system. The clutch is engaged with the foot, and when the car is in gear, it transfers power from the engine to the transmission. That means several parts of the clutch system are undergoing continuous wear and tear over time. However, it is imperative to replace clutch components right away to prevent a serious issue with your manual transmission vehicle. Fortunately, our ASE-certified technicians have the experience and skill needed to diagnose and repair any issue with the clutch. Symptoms of a Bad Clutch One of the most common symptoms is slipping and shuddering, or even difficulty pressing the pedal. Often changing gears can also become very difficult. Issues that do not allow your clutch to engage will even prevent your vehicle from starting. That said, not all symptoms are that severe, but only if they are repaired in time by a certified professional. If anything avoiding any additional, unnecessary wear will ... read more
