Brake Fluid Flush
What brake fluid does:
Serves as the lifeblood of your braking system
Activates the components (brake cylinders, pads, etc.)
Why you should change your brake fluid regularly:
Brake fluid absorbs moisture. As little as 3% moisture content dramatically lowers the boiling point, raises the freezing point and dilutes the anticorrosion additives of the brake fluid. This causes a number of problems:
Spongy brake pedal due to brake fluid boiling.
Brake failure due to ice crystals in brake system.
Premature wear and component failure due to internal rust and deterioration.
3% moisture content can take place in as little as 8 months to 1 year, depending on atmospheric and other conditions (high humidity area, etc.).
Who should have their brake fluid changed?
Owners of cars with anti-lock brake systems (ABS) and rear anti-lock brake systems . Due to extremely small tolerances in the ABS valves and solenoids, any contamination can affect the performance of the system.
Owners of cars, vans, trucks over two years old.
When should you have the brake fluid changed?
Every two years or 24,000 miles.
